Fork Maintenance - Giant Rincon

I have an 05 Rincon and I was wondering...do I need to clean the shocks? Lube them? Tear them down every so often?

I don't think you need to do much.

I have a rainier with a Marz exr and the only thing i've done to the forks in 2 years is lube the stanchions and clean whatever crap is on them off every once in a while. (also added air a few times, need a pump for that though)

Since the forks aren't exactly amazing, i'd just ride it till it breaks, lube occasionally, then upgrade to a nice set.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Now...when I upgrade to new forks, wouldn't they have to be painted to match my bike?

haha, very funny....

ok, well if you are being serious......no of course not. You can have them painted if you want, but I find that most match pretty well with paint schemes. However, you might not want looks to be your highest priority.

As to upgrading the rincon however, you might find that the fork will last a long time, and if you do decide to upgrade you will want a whole new bike with better parts overall, instead of dumping more money into an entry level bike. Just a possibility of course.
