Katy Trail 2008 DNR ride
I just found out about this ride while searching the website. Sounds interesting. Anyone familiar with it? I live fairly close (1 hour away) to the Katy and I've done numerous day rides on it of 50 miles or so. I've never done an organized ride. I'd like to find out more.

It's a great ride and a cheap vacation! I participated as a rider 2001 thru 2005. The last two years I have volunteered as a baggage handler and plan to do so again this year. It is a family oriented ride, not a bunch of partying going on - that doesn't mean you can't enjoy your favorite adult beverage in camp, just do it discreetly and respect quiet hours (my friends and I have done so for years with no problems). I haven't heard what the cost will be this year, but probably be somewhere around $250, which in the past included:
T-shirt & water bottle
Breakfast and dinner each day
Camping space each night(usually parks & schools)
SAG stops every 10-15 miles each day
Shower truck with hot showers in camp each day
Baggage truck that carries your camping gear, clothes, etc.
If you don't want to camp you can arrange to stay in motels and B&B's for additional fees. There is also an advance and return shuttle available for an additional fee that gets you to the beginning of the ride or back to your car after the ride.
The ride will be east to west (begin in St Charles and end in Clinton) this year.
Come and join us and I'll see you at the baggage truck!

I am seriously considering it. I've never done anything like this before so I have no idea what to expect. Where do I get more information?

Thanks for the link!
They have plans to extend that trail into the KC metro area and connect it to other trails in the area.

I am glad to hear it is family oriented as I plan on having my daughter ride it with me.

I sent my registration last Saturday. It will be my first group ride. I have a few questions.
They provide breakfast and dinner. What do you do for lunch? Or is lunch dinner and you have to get your own supper?
If I drive to St. Charles, can I leave my truck there all week?
This is all new to me. I'm a day rider. Never done a trip before.
Thanks inadvance.

On https://www.mostateparks.com/katytrail/2008ride.htm it says you buy lunch and snaks at towns on the route. Your confirmation packet will likely provide info about weeklong parking. No one here can answer that
as parking arrangements can change year to year you need to get this years information from trip organizers.

Katy Trail 2008 ride
My husband and I are leaving Sunday morning for St. Charles for the Katy Trail 2008 ride. This is our first ride on the Katy Trail. Hope the heavy rains in Missouri hasn't damaged the trail too bad. According to the weather forecast it is suppose to be nice next week.
