Looking for a Mechanic in Fort Collins
Can anyone recommend a good mechanic that can prep a frame and install a headset and bottom bracket. Specifically I would like someone with the proper tools to face and ream the frame if necessary. Thanks

Well, you could always drive to Vecchios in Boulder. Seems to me that Ft Collins is like many other places, good mechs come and go frequently. You might get a good one in a LBS and you might not. I have had good and bad experiences in Ft Collins. And it goes without saying, if someone recommends a good mech, make SURE that you specify that he (or she) work on your bike when you drop it off so it will not get passed on to the noobie behind the counter cause the other guy is busy.

These guys are in Loveland, and I just happened upon them while up there for other stuff. It was late afternoon on a Sunday and they were closed, but from peering into their window it seemed like they have a genuine appreciation of bikes -- lots of near vintage, performance bikes, parts, etc., all in really good shape.
Anyone have any experience w/ these guys?

Ok, I'll bite.
I've had nothing but good service from Lee's North store. Particularly the head mechanic.
Another place that I might think about checking out is Dave's 'Brave New Wheel' that is just a block north of Laurel on College. I've had him install a bottom bracket on an older frame.
I've never dealt with him, but I've heard a few good things about 'The Cycologist'. www.thecycologist.com

I've heard nothing but praise for Brave New Wheel, and I've gone there for minor stuff myself. I think the shop just changed hands though. I personally would go there.

The only shops that I would go to in Fort Collins are:
Phoenix Cyclery
https://www.thephoenixcyclery.com/
The owner is the one I always talk to, I am not sure of his name. Repairs or service seems fast and cheap base on my experience with the other stores in the area. Very happy with this shop.
Mountain High Cyclery
https://www.mtnhighcyclery.com/
I would also recommend this shop. Larry the owner is a great guy. Great prices and fast service. I only wish I had more money to spend there. This shop is in Loveland.
Damn Yankee Cyclery
This is on College by the campus, a smaller shop. John is the owner, knows his stuff and I would let him work on any of my bikes.
I have used all three of these shops and would take my bikes back to any one. I have had bikes built up by the last two shops and could not be happier.
