Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Any input on this bike

Any input on this bike

I have the opportunity to purchase a bike second-hand and was curious as I find little about it on here. It's a 2006 Schwinn Fastback CX. Was bought new and not riden at ll. The bike looks brand new. Has Tiagra in front and 105 in back. I rode it this weekend and it fits well.

I know that Schwinn's don't have the best rep, but this seems like a really nice bike. I won't be racing it, but using it for recreational rides and light trail use, nothing heavy. Would $600 be a good price?

Schwinn lists the bike as:

2006 Fastback CX

MSRP: $1099.99

decent price if you can get it for 450-500 they rock on, formula hubs are decent and from what i heard swap out the bearings on them for phil's and they become super hubs for the price of nothing.

$600 seems like a good price to me, especially if it really is new.

Schwinns are good bikes. They're just as competent as any other bike at the same pricepoint out there. Anything you've read is simply people disgruntled at the notion of someone besides the Schwinn family owning the brand.

If it's as new as you say and you like and most importantly IT FITS, I'd say buy it.
