Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

color matching

is it visually pleasing/necessary to match handlebar tape to saddle color? Ive got a black six13 frame with accents of red and white and i'm struggling with whether or not to make both the handlebars and saddle red, or just the handlebars and maybe the tires, or maybe the saddle and pedals, the combinations go on and on. What do you guys think would look the best?

i attached a pic of the frame...

Considering your @$$ covers the saddle most of the time you're using the bike, it's really not "necessary".

On the contrary . . . the very fact that this individual asked the question tells me he has tremendous posing potential. And the very best posing is done OFF the bike, at Starbucks and the like, where your saddle will be prominently displayed.

I think a red saddle would be over the top, maybe look at a red/black Fizik Aliante, if it fits your bum.

Good point. I'd like to point out that posing with a colored saddle is only worth while if you don't actually ride the bike EVER. My white saddle now looks best when it is covered by my rump!

I think you should choose handle bar tape quality to have some fun with it and any color that suits your fancy the day you buy it. Change it whenever you want. Cheap thrills.

That's what I liked when I had a polished titanium frame. I could change my tape color to any color I wanted, whenever I wanted, and it matched.

isn't the rule something like, black bar tape on a bike you're going to train on, or lose a race on, white bar tape on your race bike unless you're a heathen schmuck?

saddle color doesn't matter, as only the guy behind you can see your saddle color.

So it's important on your race bike with white bar tape.

matching saddle/bars = black or white
one or the other = whatever color
too much matchy-matchy = clown vomit

Matching handlebar tape to saddle color looks great! Almost matching handlebar tape to saddle color looks goofy.

Do you have any idea how many different red shades there are?
