Which rear rack will fit my bike? (pics included)

Hello!

I'm looking to add a rear rack and trunk bag to my bike (possibly panniers at a later point). I've done quite a bit of research online in the last few days, and I'm still having trouble figuring out which type of rack would fit my bike. I was looking at some of the Topeak racks, and they seem like they would do the job nicely with their quick release system (but other suggestions are welcome).

I have eyelets on the dropouts, but I don't have the upper eyelets. It's an aluminum frame, so welding something on is out of the question.

From my research it seems that P-clips are normally used in this situation, but I'm not sure if they would fit on my bike due to the way the rear end is put together (see the attached pictures).

Any ideas? I'm not looking to break the bank on the rack, but I would like something fairly secure.

Thanks!

Someone posted a link to an adapter for that type of seat stay. I'm sure someone will still have it!

Alternatively I know you can find adapters that will add the rack mount points to the seat post.

I think what you'll have to do is use the holes/eyelets down at the bottom, then attach the top of the rack to your seat clamp. that's what I did on my MTB frame when one of the eyelets at the top rusted up.

Then you can use nearly any rack out there with little trouble.

Thanks for the reply's.

Would one of these adapters work?

or

Does one seem better than the other?

Thanks again!

Old Man Mountain has rear racks that would work fine for your bike. They attach to the brake bosses.

Use some P-Claps and you can use any rack you want.
You can pick them up at your LBS or any hardware store. If you don't know what one is, a P-clamp is a bent piece of metal with rubber over the round end that really does make a P shape when closed, no clue how they came up with such a fancy name, go figure.

hubcap,

I had looked at the Old Man Mountain racks and they seem very nice. A bit more than I wanted to spend, but it's still an option.

Metricoclock,

I'm not sure if P-clips would work on my bike because of the mono seat stay (wishbone shape). For P-Clips, wouldn't I need to have a place to clip 2 of them on? The only place that I could do that would be too low because of the brake position.

Thanks again everyone.

I rigged up a homemade version of one of these for my wife's bike (which lacked the mounting points just like the OP's bike) using an old seatpost rear light mount. Works like a charm.

Wow! And here I thought I was the only one! I'm using an unused blackburn tail light mount to hold my rack to the mono part of the wishbone. Works well right now but I'm worried about long term use.
