Hi! Just my 2nd post here and I'm looking for a little advice for my bike. I have an Iguana SE per the thread title, still bone stock. It's been lightly ridden over the years on some Virginia and Colorado trails, enough to push it but not enough to wear anything out yet.

Anyway, I'm curious if this bike is still considered worthwhile to upgrade...I know it was Giant's entry level in its day, but I don't think I'll ever get so heavily into MTB that I'll need a much better frame (famous last words), and I'd prefer to upgrade this rather than replace it. I'm sure some parts could've been upgraded a long time ago, probably starting with an adjustable front suspended fork, pedals, and wheels?

If I do start upgrading, it seems like LBS or Performance online are the place to start? Thanks for any advice!

If it has v-brakes on the fork and you want to keep them you won't have a great selection of new forks you could put on it.

How much do you want to spend?

Upgrade to what? If you are wanting to put any better parts than were standard when new, the cost of any replacemebt will soon equal more than a new bike.

Pedals are't really an upgrade, you will have either clipless or flats, either way, they can be moved to any new bike, wheels are limiting, to fit an older bike (pre-2010 ish) they probably won't be any good for a current bike, same with almost all other parts. Forks as #cobba notes are very limiting for rim brakes all forks now come with disc mounts as standard, but very few with additional canti bosses. They are still around, but you have to look for them.

If you haven't worn anything out yet, just ride till you do, then replace as necessary, with the same spec, or better if needed.
