Saw this guy doing a trick to clear garbage--what is it called?

Was riding behind a guy today, and at one point there were a few pieces of loose garbage on the bike path, and this guy did a trick where he sort of flicked the garbage to the side by flicking his front wheel at it.
I can't seem to find what it's called--I'm curious about the technique involved. Anyone see this before?

Wheel flicking is a good skill to avoid things you see last minute, and i guess to knock trash aside.

So is there a name for this trick? Do you do it with the back wheel or front?

Wow, had no idea that was even a sport. Pretty impressive track stands, I'd fall on my ass in about 2 seconds.

I see, so you lift the front wheel as you flick. That makes sense.

Not sure I'm going to try this in the near future though.

Sometimes I'll miss a piece of garbage that I don't want to run over. Quick flick of the tire to 1 side. Usually ends up as counter steering, the wheel goes one way the bike leans the other, and a quick recovery or I'm off the road. Not recommended but it is usually an instinctive maneuver rather than a deliberate one. Every once in a while the tire flicks the garbage. Again not intended nor recommended.

Maybe someone can find a link to how to avoid stuff while riding that is recommended?

Trick? I don't know. It may be me but does this fly right in the face of the Occam's Razor postulate or what. Riding at speed down a trail ones instinct is to avoid debris. This is inbuilt. If in the avoidance maneuver debris appeared to be flicked away maybe this was a collateral happenstance and in no way intentional by the cyclist? And, what would the intent be? It surely is of questionable benefit to the flicker because s/he already was in active avoidance mode. To make the trail safe for other riders with far less superior riding skillz? Yes, there is a name for that: Saint. Again, I don't know, I'm just not thinking that there are enough trail saints out there to have an actual lexicon. So maybe it should be called a "saint move" for now.
