Specialized Tricross discontinued?

In the last day or two, the Tricross has disappeared from the Specialized website. I can find it in the 2014 Archive, but there apparently is no 2015 version. I guess the AWOL and Diverge are expected to fill the gap?

IDK just a Name change for bike of that general type ? they just send specs to TW to make them all, anyhow.

'Tri-Cross' used to only apply to a tire model ..

for Management decisions, get feed back from the dealer , they may have heard the inside rumors ..

It is, was, a great bike. Specialized seemed to be uncertain how to take it to market, I watched over the years as the line expanded, contracted, offered steel, AL, carbon, and back, and circus of different components - it seemed the line never found its consumer niche or Specialized couldn't identify it. Other than mine, I've never seen one on the road...and I got my frame used.

I ping'd Specialized on Twitter and they did say they aren't making the Tricross for 2015. Seems the Crux, AWOL, and Diverge will cover all areas now.

This is not the only manufacturer to trim its model lineup going from the 2k14 to 2k15 catalog. Everywhere i look there have been changes, both to specs on remaining models, and the model count. I do not know what the cause of this is, but i'm sure economic factors are one consideration.

I also bought a use carbon s-works tricross. One of the few carbon bikes with proper fender eyelets and clearance for full fenders. It's a shame they quit making it.

I shopped this thing. I think it was a marketing flub. The website had a huge lineup of them a few years ago but the stores had none of them. The name implied two kinds of racing that the bike did not echo. They seemed expensive at their spec level and the paint job was drab. But the segment is popular right now, they probably want to put something fresh up for sale.

But the Tricross was relatively affordable.
Those others are not, and the AWOL is ugly as hell.

Specialized is marketing the AWOL to the country/adventure/commuter bike crowd, the Crux to CX racers and the Diverge to road/gravel road grinder freaks.

I bought one of the last few 2014s recently. I love it. It's not replacing my Soma, but it's being added to the rotation as a winter bike. Love the disc brakes for the big descents and the gearing for the big climbs; both of which are on my commute. I'm going to add fenders and a rack and it'll be great. My Soma will become a "sunny weather" bike this fall. Both are super nice bikes, but until I upgrade the Soma for my altered commute, the Tri-C beats it all around.

When I saw the topic name, all I could think was, yeah, it's been gone for decades. Then I realized that you were talking about the bike model and not the Specialized tire that originally had the name back in the 80s.
