Shimano CS-HG31 11-32T 8speed VS SRAM PG-850, 8 speed, 12-26
Which one will make hill climbing easier.
Sorry for the noob question. I am a new commuter. My commute consists of many hills.
Thanks for the replies.

Nothing matters, except tooth count, in your generic question.
Shimano/SRAM no difference, interchangeable in this instance.
Doesn't matter the chainrings......46 to 22 or 56 to 44.
The 32t gear will make hills easier than a 26t gear will.
In that general context, I would suggest a cassette that starts with at least 12t, you won't need an 11. Except for bombing down the other side of the hill.

The cassette with the 32 will give much lower gearing than the 26. Take your bike's specs, and plug them in here:
Sheldon Brown's Bicycle Gear Calculator
This will give you your gearing in gear inches or gain ratios(whichever is more meaningful to you). A low gear would be < 25"/1.9,a high gear would be > 100"/7.5. Just for ballpark figures,if your bike has 700x28 tires and the triple you mentioned, the cassette with the 26t low gear wold give you a 28.8" granny, the 32t would give you a 23.4".

Don't forget to change the chain - 32T is more than 26T - you need a longer chain.

A 32T will make steep hills easier than a 26T, all else being equal, but no gear will make a steep hill easy. Keep working on that engine.
