Since we are (kinda) talking about music at the moment:

I bought The Postal Service - Give Up and Bloc Party - Silent Alarm today. I have been wanting both albums for a while but finally got off my arse and got them. Both are excellent albums although Silent Alarm does seem to go on for a bit too long. And if you dont like Such Great Heights by the Postal service something is wrong with ya.

Sister got Placebo - Meds and the 2nd and 3rd album by Radiohead. I dont particulary like radio head but Meds is a good album. The only thing wrong with it is it is copy protected but for some strange reason I was able to rip it using CDex but the cd doesnt show up in itunes.

Went and saw the Swans kick Richmond tonight, pretty dull game but Brett Kirk caught the end of a boot in the temple and was out cold well before he hit the ground like a sack of spuds. Looked horrible.

Kloden and Oscar pull TT's of their lifes out today. Shame Cadel could only do an ordinary one. Bet it was his worst dreams come true when Kloden rode past him.

Hey, also a question from a noob that doesn't pay attention to most of the racing through the year. Mick Rogers. World TT champion a couple of times over. In this race he's a never been close. Why is that? Has the fields he's beat to get his titles been weak or is there something else?

Generally weaker fields at the Worlds TT, plus he seems to be able to 'peak' for a one day event.

Mick would look to peak for the world championships for a 40KM ITT....for 3 week tours, his job has been domestique, so his training would of been totally different with a different outcome in mind. I've no doubt if Mick had the luxury of 'sitting on' for 3 weeks instead of having to work for Kloden, he'd win the ITT here

Id still have doubts, Gonchar has proven to be the best TTer at the Tour, with Landis a close 2nd. Both would still put time into Rogers in the TT. Rogers just isnt in the real supreme class of TTers, let alone during a 3 week race. Granted hes alot closer to the top peaking for a one day TT though.

It doesn't take a genius to read the results of the ITT's in the tour....3 world titles would probably disagree with your assesment of Rogers ability

Well rode a couple of loops of Manly Dam after an early morning spin class
MTB is destroyed, the mud was hub deep and grinding after about 30s
Oh well.....I can see a full strip-down ahead...if only my damn bush kit would arrive I could do it all in one-hit!

Ive ridden it 3 or 4 times. 1st time i came within a bees dick of breaking an arm, but after that its been OK,. theres some bits i wont ride but its OK. i know you like your techy stuff so you should check out red hill. havent ridden there but ive heard its v good.

have you ridden there before? i always wonder how many ppl go there for the 1st time, get 3/4 of the way around and go flying down that boardwalk only to be greeted wihtthe 10 odd foot drop at the end... i know i nearly did!

i nearly joined the post ride up and under club today. 1/2 an hour of intervals saw me all ready and prepared to ride the big white telephone to god.thank heavens it settled down :S never really happend like that before. had discomfort somtimes, but never ready for the heave ho.

Im not denying hes not a worthy World Champion, or that he cant ride a TT. I am disputing your assertion that he would no doubt beat Landis, Gonchar, Kloden etc... had he not been on domestique duties. As if he has wiped the floor with then before. Doesnt take a genius to read his past results to see he hasnt come close to winning a Grand Tour TT ever. His best ride is the 4th, good ride but that was still over a minute behind. I maintain hes better at peaking for one day.

I disagree, he's never had the opportunity to ride for himself in a grand tour, so we don't know. likely we won't find out either. Teams like T mobile generally lean toward a German as leader, simply for nationalistic reasons....I reckon he was stronger than Kloden this tour & would have finished higher on GC if given the opportunity to race on his merits

I've spent a bit of time with Phil over the years (no, I'm not name dropping, a good friend of mine works on his O/S tours & his company sponsored me for a few years) & have had the opportunity to have a yak to him over a meal & a beer on a few occaisions. Did you realize that although he finished 13 tours, 5th twice & spent 9 days in yellow....he only actually ever won 1 stage!. Phil maintains that 'he' was nothing special as compared to the guys he was racing & was only an average climber in the big mountains & a reasonable TT'er....I think he was a bit better than that, but he's pretty modest. If you think about it, some legends were winning the tour when Phil was racing it, Hinault, Fignon. FWIW, Phil reckons the best rider he ever saw was Eddy....& in the periennial arguement about 'who was better, Lance or Eddy'? he reckons Eddy would of simply ridden Lance off his wheel......
