The swift is that much - you can get a pro for 150 (i got 2 for that much, but i can't let you have them) or even a B17 for under 100 and cut the 'wings' off. Specialised saddles come in multiple widths. Robbie's saddle - the selle san marco - is wide too i think.

Ebay US is cheaper than here btw.

HDTVKSS 01-22-07 10:24 PM

what model sele san marco is that?

Regal i think. His one is a 'racing replica' though - pretty white one...

Regals are super comfortable IMO, even though those rivets would make you think otherwise.

HDT, you might want to look at so-called "women's" saddles if you think it could be a question of width, 'coz they're made slightly wider to accommodate the wider female pelvis. I have a Selle Italia Lady Gel Flow I'm not using if you want to try it just as a "suck it and see" thing (PM me over on CF or send me an email)

Might not be a saddle contact issue, either, could be more of a "squashed between the thighs" thing when you're pedalling, in which case you need to look at that side of things when deciding on a saddle (and possibly hoist 'em high)

I only just noticed that the San Marcos have different width saddles.
There's a big ad in the latet Ride mag

matagi 01-23-07 04:29 AM

Has the new Ride come out already? Or are you referring to the one with Flandis on the cover?

531Aussie 01-23-07 06:18 AM

yeah, the Flandis one

531Aussie 01-23-07 09:23 PM

I just heard that the new Ride is supposed to be out this week -- has anyone seen it out there?

Great saddles. Really hard to get now. Theyve stopped making them. Got a turbomatic 4 from Geoffrey Butler in the UK for my dad a couple of months ago - about $80 delivered.

HDT I'll give you the Concor off my race bike if it'll stop you whinging. And that's saying a lot because not even a nude swedish hitchhiker with huge tits and a desire to massage would get to sit on the Concor

FFS saddles ain't rocket science: if it hurts then it's probably never gonna stop hurting, so you take it back to the LBS and get a different one to try until you find true love.

Either that or you take the pain of an irritated perenium and learn to manual the last bits of pee out of the urethra. There's no gurantee that that will make your saddle feel any better, but you might be able to work out how to save embarrassment.

Oh man, Jock had the cranky pants on!

From The Age - 'Australia overhauled England's meagre total of 110 with nine wickets in hand and 25.3 overs to spare.'

ROFLMAO

Pathetic. They should just go home and stop wasting everyones time.

I have been telling my English colleagues that things can only get better from here. I cannot imagine that it can possibly get any worse.

Looking for a saddle for my mtb for my tour of NZ in a couple of months. Saw a Brooks for the first time in real life on the weekend. Bludy thing was so hard I almost broke my thumb on it pressing it. No way I'm touring on one of those. What else is good for touring with? No point asking in the touring forums. They're sponsored by brooks so they're biased.

BTW, my handlbars and saddle height are about even.

forget leather, go granite

Brian 01-28-07 10:11 PM

Vette, did you pinch that Yank's Santa Cruz?

badsac 01-28-07 10:23 PM

Lol vette. I think that was the one.

Kiwis were a bit unlucky IMO last night. If they had of held a couple of catches or had some decisions go their way they might have got over the line.

badsac 01-28-07 11:04 PM

And if Australia had of stopped lollygaging they might have beat them by 150.

How hard or shoft a saddle is has little bearing on how comfortable you will find it. It is how it fits your body that is the key thing.

If you want a nice touring saddle then you really should consider the Brooks - there's a reason it is so popular on the long distance cycling forums.

MrM has a Brooks B17 narrow and loves it. It was comfortable straight out of the box, and being leather it does soften and mould to your shape. He used it on the GVBR and had no problems at all. If you get one, then follow the instructions that Brooks include with the saddle and don't listen to any silly old wives tales about how to condition your saddle.
