Bike Shipping in Australia

Hi All,

Do you who can ship out bicycles ?(couriers maybe)
I have a road bike for sale and the interested buyer is in Darwin.

I don't think Australia Post ships bike... or do they ??

Cheers,
Mario

I'm sure I have seen reference to coachlines (ie. long haul buses) and that do some simple freight services. I did read some months ago on the topic, but it's not something I have done myself. Do some Aussie googling for +Greyhound +Coach+ Frieght or similar. I don't think they're door-to-door like courier pickup - you have to drop off and collect stuff from the Bus Stops/Depots but my impression was that there rates were quite cheaper.

They probably only ship on the condition the bike is well packaged ie. partially disassembled if a complete bike etc and placed in a box. Again, I have yet to do it myself but I intend hassling my LBS for an unwanted box they assemble their stock from and work from there.

I'd be curious to know how you go - cos I can see a day probably in the not too distant future where I will want to thin out some of my bike stuff on e-bay. If you're willing to ship - it expands your market.

cheers

Greyhoud + Insurance is the way to go. Its a path many have traveled in the past with both good and bad experiences. Good luck

If I recall correctly, it was about $70 for a courier from Newcastle to somewhere in QLD. The bus is the way to go.
