Touring Tasmania
Just an announcement to share my excitement.
Finally. We have booked our flights and we will be heading to Tasmania on 16th December. Yay us. We'll be on the island for four weeks. We haven't defined a route yet, because we're still hoping to get our hands on a copy of 'The Tasmanian Trail Guide' (hint, hint) - a guide for a off-road touring trail. We love touring off-road. But if we can't get it, it will be difficult to find the trail.
Anyhow, you can follow us around on my website: https://www.aresthetics.ch/trav
Oh, and of course, it would be good to hear from fellow tourers who are/have been to Tassie and want to share some info (or meet up for a few beers).
Happy cycling.
Adrian

Every lane is a bike lane
I haven't done the Tasmanian Trail, but I did do a tour down there in 2003. I'm thinking about going back again at some point in the near future. If you're looking for some off-road riding, check out Maria Island. It's basically a national park with no cars, shops or electricity, but you can still ride your bike on the old dirt roads. It's one of the most tranquil places I've ever been, and the scenery is marvellous. I think I covered some of the other highlights in this post over in the touring forum.

Hei Chris,
I read all your 30 logs on crazyguyonabike.com - before you mentioned them here. It has been a great inspiration and source of information (per example: Jacob's Ladder is on our must-list now). Plus, I'm pushing my gf to create a cgoab profile and document our trip (I'll have enough on my hands with my own website). I think it's great to share experiences and places.
I'll share the cgoab link here, once it's set up.
By the way - you must have taken notes to create such exact accounts of your trip, right? Or did you head to a internet cafe daily?

good luck on the Tassie trail.
I cycled from Perth to Melbourne then came over to Tassie 2 weeks ago, cycled down the west coast and have been staying with friends in Holbart since Tuesday, we must have been in Holbart at the same time but I have just seen this thread, spend most of my time in Touring.
Just came back from my second ascent of Mount Wellington, I wish my mate didn't live on the top of Mt Nelson!!!
