New Springer Fork - Too Big?
2 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone. Thanks for looking.
I've been restoring a beach cruiser I got off craigslist for the past few weeks. I had to cut the old fork off so I decided to get a new springer fork. I put it on today but there is a lot of thread that stuck up past the head tube of the frame. Will it cause a problem? Spacers? Cut the fork? Thanks! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=465822http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=465823 |
Yes it will cause a problem. The headset will not stay in adjustment and spring bracket needs to be tight in both sides. You ne.d to cut it down to the same size as the orignal fork was. It has to be straight cut and it you do not feel you can do that take it to bike shop. They probably have a jig to cut it straight. You might get by with a second nut on top of the fork bracket. Thanks for the reply. I think I'll try to cut it myself with a few of the nuts from the old fork and a hacksaw.
