Electra springer fork availability.
When I was a kid in the 70s I had an old Schwinn from the late 40s to early 50s and it had a springer fork.
A few years back I purchased an Electra Cruiser. Basic model, steel frame, single speed with a coaster brake. I'm pretty sure it's an 09. I always wanted to get a springer fork for it and just never got around to picking one up and now they are discontinued. Does anyone have a source for these, either an Electra or aftermarket one? |
Still mass produced and available in many sizes, colors, and styles. Many pages of shopping here.....

Thanks for the link I was a having trouble finding the spec for the Electra. Its a little different from the standard cruiser.
They made 2 the 2005 and older is a #486511 and the 06 and newer with the forward pedal design is #469461 But I found an old catalogue and it specifies the FL/at 407mm and the steerer tube at 183 mm vs a FL of 407mm and a steerer tube of 171mm. So hopefully with that info I should be able to find something. I found one on Ebay with a stated 200mm steerer and for sub $50 and a return policy ill take a chance. |
I'd be careful of the cheaper ones. usually I buy them all the time, but I'm having trouble with this last one. way too flexy, so I can't add a fender or disc brake. the past ones might have done this also without me noticing, but I have a bigger rotor and larger fender this time so maybe that's why. before I tightened it down more the tire even nearly rubbed one side or the other during turns. you may have brought by now, but I remembered this thread when I started having trouble with the fork. on ebay now trying to find a better quality one for this particular project.

I want one with disc brake mounts
|
There are Monark reproductions on eBay, available with a disc mount. They don't look like a "classic" springer, but they are exceedingly well put together.
