Aluminum framed cruiser?

I've found that Phat makes one, but do any of you know a manufacturer that makes a classic looking beach cruiser in aluminum that does not have the pedal forward geometry?

This post relates to my other post about opinions on the pedal forward, which I am leery about.

The Monark Silver King. All aluminum, and it doesn't just look classic, it is classic!

Wow! No doubting that is aluminum!

I'm looking to blend in though, as my Kona would be $$ to replace if stolen when I visit local coffee shops or brew pubs.

I bought an aluminum bike called a Roller at Walmart for $70. You can search their web site for closeout bikes and find some nice bikes. Roger

another walmart cheapie, a kent lajolla. not sure if they're sold any more (can't think of the name of it, but i think there's a 7sp version still made), but i've picked them up used for $30-ish.

anyone notice though, that cheaper aluminum frame bikes still have steel forks? harder/more expensive to make a cheap aluminum fork?

Ut O! I’ve not been on the cruiser sub forum before now but this sounds like a fender or kickstand debate from one of the other sub forums. 😳🤪

The shop has the green fading to blue color now and I could wait for grey (with orange chain guard) or black but ultimately I might paint it olive green. I like how nice it looks new, but I’m trying to have it blend in a little more so that I worry less about it being noticed and stolen.

Went into my LBS and ordered the grey one with orange chain guard (pants protector??). Should be here in a week or so. I think I'll paint the chain guard first

Well two 10 mile rides (cruises?) and I like the new bike. Pretty cool to hop on with candles and my sun hat and not worry about cleated shoes and helmet too.

Aluminum Cruiser

I bought an aluminum Kent from Cycles Direct. It is a nice frame. I repacked all of the bearings and upgraded the crankset and the rear derailleur, it has an 8 speed cassette. I have huge bars because of medical reasons. I do 200 plus miles a month including cruises over 50 miles. I average 11 to 13 on the long runs in comfort. You work out what is best for you by riding.

That’s a good solid distance each month. I find I use this cruiser for everything local (pub, library, mom and dad’s, etc.) and my Kona Rive Ti for the longer stuff and tours.

I read this post yesterday before my cruiser ride to an appointment, and as I was riding out of the driveway I thought "why would someone repack the bearings on a new bike?" I rode about 15 miles and then came home to clean the chain of the store bought "lube" and flipped the bike over to start the process. I rolled the back wheel and it slowed in about 10 revolutions, and it sort of chunked along - vibrating the whole bike. So I took the wheel off and found that the cones were super tight! I promptly took it apart, re-greased it, and assembled it properly. Now it rolls quite nice. I need to talk with my friend at the LBS and let him know this kind of thing needs to be checked before sending a new bike out of the shop.

On another note, I have never serviced a Bendix style brake and only watched in awe as my grandfather serviced one when I was about 6 years old. It wasn't as hard as I thought, but maybe that extra 50 years of living might have had something to do with it.

Too late for this thread, but Priority makes a 3 speed belt drive called Coast. Should be a winner for someone, my Classic was quite light.

I thought proper setup was a primary reason for going to an LBS . Why pay the extra cost if you have to do it yourself anyway?

Agree! Also, it was so tight if I'd have ridden much more I think the races would have been damaged. The LBS owner is a friend so I'll let hm know (regardless of friendship, I'd let the owner know, as I'd like them to stay in business).

I did regressed re-greased it after cleaning out the little that was in there. So the bearings get damaged first in a situation like this?

Aluminum like you wanted, black so it goes with everything, and it's a Giant.
Go for it if the price is right for you.
