New Belgium Fat Tire Ale cruiser customized
I recently bought a 2009 New Belgium Fat Tire Ale cruiser bike off of Craig's List.
I decided to modify it to make it look just like the bike in the beer label. It also goes nicely in my New Belgium collection in my man-cave. What do you think? http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/d_resize.jpg Before - After: http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/f_resize.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/e_resize.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/b_resize.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/c_resize.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ize_resize.jpg |
Classic American Baroque bike. It needs to ridden the right way on the right day. The Fat Tire bike just doesn't have the look right. More a cartoon of a cruiser.

Thank you for the comments (even though I have no idea what you meant).

New Belgium bike= Good. Ride bike slow on nice day.
Fat Tire bike= Not so good. |
They are both New Belgium - Fat Tire Ale bicycles.
The one on the left is a 2012 (made by Felt), and on the right is 2009 (made by Schwinn). |

The bikes are awesome! I have a cruiser and people always ask me "what do you use that bike for?". My answer? "it makes me smile" and then I tell them to take it for a spin and without fail they get a big grin on their face. It just feels so cool to ride it. I rode it for the Midnight Classic in Denver years ago and people were loving it. It's a 2001 Dyno Roadster, single speed, very non-optimal pedaling angle, and the length of a tandem. What more could you ask for :)

Yep, cruisers = smiles

So you're the lowlife scum who stole the Beaver's bike ?
|
Where do the Keg and Tap, on that thing go?
|
Such a cool look!
|
I like it! and i'll be picking my fat tire beach cruiser tomorrow.. spider AT.
|
I'm envious, I picked up a 2010 NB this year and now realize why the 2011s have different handlebars.
The 2009s are in my top 3 favorites for NB cruisers. before it good so dark so early it was my friday commuter over the summer. |
I like the 2008 model...the Felt tried to mimic Elgin and Nirve and doesn't make it. Not as fond and I felt the one with the 'toolbox' style tank was disappointing to me as well. I wanted a full tank on that one, I like the cantilever tanks and Columbia/Hawthorne/Flyer straight bar and longhorn tanks.
The X-53 tank is mighty wicked as well. You are mighty lucky to have two of them, they certainly are different than any other beer premium item! |
Ah yes. i have several bikes on display. Makes me happy when i look at them.
|
Just saw this. Nice work.

Diggin' the white wall tires ... well done :thumb:

Nice bike but it doesn't look "just like" the one in the advertisement. Your bike is made to look like a Schwinn Phantom, the one in the advertisement seems to be a J.C. Higgins, completely different front light, fork and frame. Still a nice bike. :)
