Albatross bars on a cruiser

1 Attachment(s)
It's hard to see from this pic, but my cruiser has a typical "moon" shape handlebar that sweeps back in a lazy curve, then drops very slightly toward the grips:

It works OK for me, functionally speaking, but I don't know if I want to stay with this particular look. Would an albatross/upright handlebar of the English 3-speed variety work on this bike? Just curious....

Yes

Might play with reach via different stems , but no reason why not..

Getcherself some Wald 8095 bars. Chromed steel, $11, made in Kentucky, with a classic northroad bend.

That's basically what I'm doing to my Electra Cruiser but I'm going to use bar tape instead of grips.

The good thing about cruisers you can make a lot of changes to fit your "style" of riding.

Where is the best place to buy Wald products. The website just shows baskets. Their products are not readily distributed in Canada.

stem to bar clamp diameter is 1 inch, so in that, yes,

they bend forward , before bending back some ,
and so your posture will not be as upright.

you will have to reach forward more.

Yup, I put an albatross bar on my cruiser last night after reading this post. The upright position changes a bit. I haven't put grips on it yet, I'm still not sure I like the look.

Ah , Vanity..

I just bought a set of Bosco bars for my crusier, but I'm thinking I should have bought Albatross bars. I'm replacing some old bars that have more of a "buckhorn" shape. The Bosco bars are closer to crusier bars, but I think I like the Albas better. Oh well. What's another $50 on bars? :|

Seconding this. I just put these bars on my Schwinn Racer (neck problems make it tough to ride in drops), and they're not only classy, but very comfy with the right grips. Bonuses include those stated by surreal: Made in the USA (if that's important to you) and nowhere near as expensive as some of the Sunlite's/other comparable bars.
