Yup mine is a Wald, about the only kind I will buy :thumb: It did not crush it at all, and I did not add anything behind it either. I like the P-clamps with the rubber it keeps them from sliding. I suppose you could put a scrap of inner tube under them too. IIRC I bought these at either Lowes or Home Depot, probably in the hardware section. I always have a bunch of odd hardware laying around from all the projects I get involved in on the home front. They may have come from the electrical section too, I have seen them sold as cable clamps.

Good wife for not wanting to get rid of her Wald ;)

Re: Wald... I'm a bit of a Wald fanatic. I'm building a Cycletruck with like pretty much Wald everything on it. I went to great lengths to find a NOS 20" 962 fender in gloss black. I even made sure to get a Wald branded OPC-- the old style with the raised/smooth center ridge on the crankarms, and I'm about to needlessly buy some NOS Wald pedals for the build, too. When Wald recently updated their website, and only left the items that they sell direct up, I panicked and emailed their customer service to make sure they weren't going to stop making all their other stuff. (Dude assured me that they're not. ) So, yeah, I appreciate Wald as much as anyone. I'm pretty sure my wife doesn't know what "Wald" is. (I just asked her, and she didn't know.)

I just thought maybe, after I went to the trouble of getting her some wheels built with a dynohub, maybe she'd let me put a light on the fork crown. "No way, the basket blocks it, and I won't get rid of my basket". The bars are the excellent Wald 8095 northroads, but the best area to put a light on is taken up by the supports for the basket.

As luck would have it, I have a brand-new p-clamp in my box that is the perfect size. We'll be ordering a light for her, post haste.

So, thanks again.

Stick a picture of those bikes up when you get a chance. I love the utility stuff much more than the go fast. Just about all of my bikes are set up for common sense use, things like fenders, racks, baskets and lights.

It's discussions like this that make me know I'm in the right place.
