Electra Cruiser 7D , with balloon tires?

Hey guys, i am about to get my local bike shop to order me an Electra Cruiser 7D, in matte black. I love the way the townie rides, but like the classic lines of the aluminu, frame cruiser. My only issue is, I like the fat frank tires of the ballon 7D townie. Can i get these tires for my cruiser 7D? I would think if i could order it with these tires, it would be much cheaper than ordering the tires seperately and paying my bike shop to swap them over. Also, will the fat franks, fit the standard Cruiser 7D wheel?

Thanks, mach

Yes, exactly! How do you like that bike? How does it ride? did you order it with the tires or add them, later. Did you have to pull the fenders to run those tires?
Thanks for your time!

You cannot order bikes with different tires from Electra. Your LBS can certainly install the tires of choice on any of their bikes though.

It's not my bike...I found the pic over on the Electra Bike Forum Pic thread. I still have the same tires that came with mine but was pretty sure that I could have put them on it. Here's one with fenders like mine.

+1. Best bet is to try and negotiate that whole subsitution before you pull the trigger on the build. The shop won't want to deal too much, as they make much nicer markup on aftermarket stuff (like a set of tires) than they do on a complete bike. Just remember, those Franks are $35 each online, all day....so don't let them charge you more than $70 over the cost of the bike, and only go for that if you get to keep the oem rubber....

Check things out carefully first. I just got a new 7D, Black in a Tall frame. I had an older 7d before. The Fat tires may not fit into the canti brakes. On mine there is 1 3/8" clearance in the brakes on my 7d with the stock Townie tire. I don't know how much bigger the Fat Franks are. Notice the Townie sells the Fat tires on more expensive bikes with Roller Brakes. Maybe because of clearance issues.
