large cruiser frame

Can somebody point me at the right thread or answer the question of who makes/made a larger sized classic cantilever beach cruiser frame? I heard Schwinn heavy Dutis came in a 20" but I can't find one. If you do know of one for sale, all I absolutely need is a frame but I'll take a fork too if available. I'm not interested in stretches or the ugly 32" wheeled thing at Big5.

Thanks,
Wonder

if you have a walmart local (or look online just for a pic, or would take a chance not seeing it "in person), you could look at a huffy millennia. made with the regular cantilever styling, but a little larger and uses 29" wheels. i have one, but I have to switch to chrome to post a pic (I think my 'puter's on the outs). there's a pic on the last page of the show your cruiser thread at the moment though.

some will look down on a walmart bike quality wise, and I can't really vouch for it myself in it's stock form (I got it fully intending to cut it and only rode it once around the block before I did), but it does tic your size and style boxes. plus you can just take it back if you keep the receipt.

I don't consider a 20" frame large.. I will have to measure the two frames I have. My "normal" bikes have 25" frames

How tall are you? Schwinn (straight bar) Heavy Dutis have a actual 22 inch top tube and an effective 23 inch top tube.

They are still available new. Use their store locator to find a shop near you. If they don't have one they can order one for you.

If you are looking for the "king Size" American or Heavy Duti, which was a cantilever, I believe those were only made in 1962-1965, and finding one of those would be tough.

I'd sell you mine, but I've put to much love ($) into her. ;)

I looked at two bikes that look like this yesterday. they said 1967, and they wanted $75 a piece for them. as best I could tell they didn't look any bigger than a curvy cruiser, but they're not my interest so I don't know if they came in different sizes and there wasn't a cantilever near them to compare (peddlers mall).

edit: guess I should have added for someone local (Louisville, ky) it's the peddlers mall on the outer loop near shepherdsville rd.

edit edit : well I was back there just now and one has a "made in china" sticker on the head tube, so I guess they're just styled like one from 1967. I don't know.

Thanks to everybody for all the legwork. I never knew there was such a thing as a "king size" schwinn. I'm gonna scrape together some cash and on the one in Abilene and that will be about perfect. To answer your questions; I'm 6'2". If I thought somebody made a 25" cantilever I'd buy one. I only need a frame because I've got bendix K hubs laced to s-7's with the 11g spokes and a sweetheart crank. It's currently on an 18" trek cruiser frame. I knew it was too small but then I caught a glimpse of myself in a big store window and it was pretty comical.

Thanks again. Now I know the name of what I'm looking for.

Worksman has a 20" frame but it's not classic cantilever. Worksman Design Your Own Classic MEN'S Cruiser | The Worksman Cycles Factory Direct Store, America's Oldest Cycle Manufacturer, Industrial Bicycles and Tricycles, since 1898

I saw a "Sessions" at the LBS this last week and it's like that Schwinn with BMX mods too... the Logo was backwards and it was black on an orange middleweight canti frame with a Schwinn-like chainguard. I should try to get a picture of it Tuesday when the shop is open.

I had an early 90s Heavy Duti but it had no cantis...it had 26" balloon tires...alas, it was stolen.

Pretty nice, I would also suggest a Diamondback Drifter one- it has to be the longest bike I have next to the mongoose deception, but niether yours or mine are cantilever frames.

Schwinn middleweights are strong, light, fast and surprisingly large for many folks. Stay away from the 'new' (i.e. Pacific Cycle/Huffy frame with the misbegotten humpy top bar) and stay with the original 1938ish classic style. Murray/Western Flyer/Sears/AMF are actually smaller but with good races and bearings are awesome and speed demons as well.

Electra has a "tall" size, here's a 7 speed the one in khaki. Here's a SS.
