1994 Trek 1200 Crankset
Hey guys I need a new crankset because my rings are all warped. I want to try and fix it myself instead of buying a new bike. All I need to know is which crankset will fit this bike and which bike chain. If you guys can give me a link to both parts on amazon or a couple of parts I will appreciate it. Thanks advance for all your help. I would want to spend more then 100 on both parts because I dont really race or anything on it just a hobby thing. Thanks again!

You probably have a "square taper" double crankset. Perhaps you could replace just the chainrings.
Need more details. A closeup picture would help eliminate some guessing.

Should be a Shimano RX 100 crankset which uses 130mm BCD rings. Just replace the chain rings in the tooth counts you prefer. Chain any 6/7/8 speed chain you prefer.

Hey there! Thanks for the quick reply, when i turn the crank it moves left and right and my chain jumps off this is how I know its warped. I ordered the removal tool, the crankset on it now is a shimano rx-100 but I cant find it online So i wanted to buy some other cranksets but I have no idea if they are all the same and the only thing that changes are the amount of teeth on the rings.
I rather replace the whole crankset so if you guys can give me a link to what i am suppose to look for it will help a lot thanks!

Are these it? And will these fix the problem?

Are you sure that it's the rings that are bent, and not the bottom bracket that simply needs to be adjusted?
The bottom bracket bearing adjustment could be too loose, and allowing the shaft to move to the left and right.
Why do you want to replace the whole crankset, if the rings need replacement? Replacing just the rings is easier, faster, and less expensive then replacing the entire crankset, which will probably require replacing the bottom bracket as well.

You need to understand there are 3 separate and distinct items here. 1 - chain rings that hold the chain, 2 - crank arms that the chain rings mount to, 3 - bottom bracket which is the axle and bearings the crank arms attach to. These are all independent items that can wear and need replacing separately, but need to be compatible with each other and the frame. You need to figure out which of the three is the problem before you can start throwing parts at it. Then once you know what is worn then you have to figure out the different interfaces between them and the frame to order the correct parts.

Assuming that the BB bearings are good and adjusted properly and the cranks are mounted up to the square taper spindle properly then you can easily straighten any bend in the chain rings with a little persuasion.
Easy peasy.
If the chain rings are worn out just replace them. You can also check and straighten them too.
Perform the straightening on the bike. The FD cage makes a convenient pointer for doing this.

I got a chain ring and just released that the whole crankset is bad. I'm going to have to take it to a shop because idk if it's the crankset or the spindle 😞

Any crank-set that is 68 English threaded should work. I have a 1990 Trek 1400 I put an octalink 6500 crankset on after buying a megaexo crankset to upgrade the bike that originally had that. I see 5700 105 cranksets for ~ $150 or FSA ones for a bit over $100.

The crankset is the chainrings and the crankarms. The bottom bracket is the spindle, left and cups and the ball bearings.
If it grinds when rotated then the bottom bracket needs servicing or replacement. You need to remove the crankarms and the lef side adjustable cup to be able to service the bottom bracket. To do this, you need a crankarm puller, and a couple of wrenches to remove the adjustable cup.
If either cup (fixed or adjustable) or the spindle is/are damaged it's more economical to replace the bottom bracket with a shimano UN54 or UN55 cartridge bottom bracket ($20-$25 online) then it would be to replace the damaged cup/s and or spindle. Measure the length of the spindle to figure out what length cartridge bottom bracket you need. The length of the cartridge you need is usually the same as the length of the existing spindle.
