Centurion Bottom Bracket replacement issue
I have recently replaced the BB on my old Centurion road bike. The BB Shell measured a little longer than 68mm but it is an English threaded, so I purchased and installed a 68x117.5 shimano sealed cartridge BB. The BB threaded on fine, but the drive side spindle reaches further out of the shell than the non-drive site. Essentially the BB is off centered.
Has anyone ever come across this issue? and know how to address it? or is this even an issue?

Asymmetrical bottom bracket spindles were normal until the mid-1980s at least, after which manufacturers started building the required offset into the crank arms instead.
