Trek Madone 5.2 rattle
Hi All,
I have a 2014 Trek Madone 5.2 with fulcrum Quattro wheels. I love this bike but the rattling noise which seems to come from the bottom bracket is driving me mad! I've changed the chain, tightened everything and I can't seem to stop it? Any ideas!?
Thanks in advance!

Does it have internal cable routing for the rear brake? That is a common source of rattle, because the brake cable is not under tension unless the brake is being used. With no tension, it is free to rattle against the frame. Sometimes a plastic liner on the cable will silence the rattle.

Not so. The lever prevents the brake opening further, with the brake's return spring applying tension to the cable at all times. If your brake cable is slack, it's because of excess housing friction.
But yeah, most likely cause of rattles is probably internal cables; a bit of cable tension isn't enough to stop the cables slapping against anything nearby like the inner walls of any guide tubes in the frame.
