Bottom bracket help please
Sometime ago I bought a Shimano105 5800 11 Speed Compact Groupset to replace the Shimano 10 Speed Groupset on my 2014 Specialized Roubaix Elite. I'm just now getting around to replacing that Groupset.
I had earlier in the year replaced the FSA Gossamer Pro, BB30 crank on the Specialized Roubaix with a Shimano 105 Hollowtech II. I used a Praxis Works OSBB Road BB conversion and it worked beautifully. It's pretty straight forward to me how the 10 speed to 11 speed conversion on the Roubaix is going to go. I thought I could just take all the 10 speed components off my Roubaix and put them on my Specialized Secteur Sport Disc. I called Praxis Works and asked them what I need and they said because the Secteur has a FSA Tempo, 9-speed compact crank with a FSA, square taper, sealed cartridge bearings, they couldn't help me. So my question is what do I need for a bottom bracket to move the 105 ten speed group to the Secteur? And can I even do it? Thanks in advance, Poon |
What is the configuration of the Sectur's bottom bracket shell? Based on it's currently having a square taper bottom bracket I'd put money on it's having a standard English threaded shell. If so, any of the English threaded bottom bracket compatible with the crank will work. Are you going to use the older FSA crank or a 10-speed Shimano crank?

I'm a little confused by your story but I gather you want to put a 105 hollowtech crank on a bike with a threaded BB. You should confirm that the BB is 68mm wide but a normal Shimano external bearing BB is what you need - no adapters. $21.

Thank you both for responding. Poon |
