Shimano Ultegra shifter rattle

My right Shimano Ultegra STI shifter has an annoying buzz when I ride over anything but silky smooth pavement. If I hold my finger lightly against the upshift "trigger", the buzz goes away. On a bike, silence is golden! Anyone have a quick fix?

I remember reading about this problem on roadbikerider.com. I had new women-specific shimanao shifters put on the bike last fall and then parked the bike. I kept hearing a noise this year and found it to be my new left shifter. The article mentioned taking the "shimano advertising" piece off the shifter or using some time of rubber band. Mine only makes noise on windy days.

It is a common complaint. The covers (the little plate on top that says "shimano Ultegra" blah, blah) do not have real tight tolerances and tend to rattle.

The trick we have been using is CAREFULLY pop the cover off, put a small piece of thick double stick tape (the one that looks like foam) on either side of the (now) exposed nut, and pop the cover back on. Buzz gone !
