Seatpost is a tight fit!

I had a seatpost stuck in a frame but it finally came out after some vinegar and wrestling.

The post is carbon-wrapped aluminum and there is an aluminum sleeve inside the frame.

So I tried putting the seatpost back into the frame because hey, I would like to reuse the seatpost.

It was SUCH a tight fit just sliding the first bit of the seatpost into the frame that I almost stopped right there because I didn't want to have the post trapped in the frame again. I did not have the seat collar on; that was removed.

So I first tried cleaning out the inside of the frame as well as I could with an old rag and also cleaned up the post. I also applied some marine grease - because I wasn't able to waste some carbon paste on a cheap seatpost I more than likely will end up replacing. I just needed lubrication - which marine grease provides. I didn't need to lock the post in place as I was just looking to see if I could easily put the post back in without having to worry about having it getting stuck in the frame AGAIN!

The marine grease helped a bit with sliding the post into the frame, but at a certain point, the post got stuck. It wouldn't budge down into the frame without a significant application of force.

Is it normal for seatposts to feel very tight inside frames? My other two bikes - their seatposts go in and out without an issue. One of them is identical - carbon post, aluminum seat tube. Can seatposts go out of round or something?

Possible thoughts- The OEM post might have been a touch oversized, or the frame a bit undersized to begin with. Heat distortion and burrs also cause post snagging. Corrosion increases the OD of the post (and reduces the ID of the frame). Did you sand, steel wool, ream, hone off any corrosion? Have you tried one size smaller a post? Andy.

How Tight? being not there, waiting to read measured dimensions ..
nearest 5 hundredths of a mm? ala 27.0 or 27.05

Using an adjustable reamer in the LBS , I took out just enough wall (0.1mm) to use 27.2 seatposts
in a frame made with a 27.0 seat tube bore/ID.

perhaps you still have rust, from stuck post .. brake cylinder hone and polish frame, Inside the seat tube..
