Need SRAM PC48 chain replacement
What's a suitable replacement or upgrade for said chain on my 1993 Rockhopper with 7 speed rear cogs?
What tool should be used to disassemble said chain??? |
A SRAM PC-850 should work, as should any 6-7-8 speed chain. If the PC-48 chain was closed with the provided Powerlink you shouldn't need a tool to take it apart, although master link tools like the Park MLP-1 (I have one and like it) make the job easier.
You will need a chain breaker tool to remove links to properly size the new chain. No tool is needed to close the Powerlink. |

They could be made to work, as would any long-nosed pliers, but I would not buy one as a substitute for the MLP-1. The tool is not strictly needed but makes the job easier.

One of the great things about these chains is that no tools are needed once they are cut to the correct length. :thumb:
