Change hub color from silver to black?
I have several of these FH2200 silver rear hubs that I would like to change to black since black wheels seem much more salable these days. (I got these hubs cheap cheap and plan on building economy replacement wheels with Mavic Open Sport rims)
Any easy way to do this that provides a durable end result? Black rattle-can paint or black fingernail polish come to mind, but I have my doubts about how well the finish will hold up.
If changing hub color is not easily doable, what do you think about silver hub with black spokes and black rim and black skewers? Don't think I've ever seen it.
Or I can make them all into silver wheels (like the one in the pic) but again how many people want silver wheels?

How are you going to maintain the Shimano logo & model#.
Anything that chips or flakes off is going to result in an unhappy customer.
Unless it looks professional, you'll detract value.
Anodizing is about the only way to go, but you'd have to remove the bearing races to do it. Just more problems lurking.
There are people that don't like black because it shows dust, dirt etc. worse than silver.

The "saleable" black hubs are properly anodized, and that is the assumption a buyer would make. It's deceptive to advertise hubs as "black" when all you've done is paint them. If you got them "cheap cheap" then you should still be able to sell them easily as-is if you make the price attractive.

OK, Looks like (another) non-starter.
Question for you bike shop guys--
Which would sell quicker, an all-silver rear wheel as shown in the pic or a rear wheel with silver hub and black spokes, rim, and skewer?

Talk about a coincidence--customer just brought me wheel to be rebuilt--silver hub with black rim! (mtb though) Wants black spokes for the rebuild. Note the chlorine damage where all the spokes have become brittle and started popping.
