I shortened the excess length of my seatpost with a dremel, and buffed up my old stem.

I actually purchased the cordless dremel because after installing larger tyres on my Jeep, I found that they were contacting a lower part of my front bumper. I used the dremel to trim away a section in order for them to clear. But since I was worried the contact points might change due to suspension travel, I took the rig out on some trails and listened for the sound of rubbing at certain wheel angles and suspension articulation so that I could clear just the right amount away.

I use my dremel for everything that falls in-between doing something by hand or using an angle grinder. Mine has been going strong for a long time too.
