Rear derailleur pulling forward / replacement front derailleur

So I bought a well used 2 x 5 Fuji Arcadia for my wife, and I've trying to get it fully operational. So far I've changed out all of the housing and cables as well as bar tape, put new tires on, replaced the brakes with a new set, and replaced the safety levers with a new set of levers and installed crosstop levers (at her request). Right now I've got everything braking fine and after a struggle (a limit screw was set incorrectly) the gears are shifting smoothly. I still have two problems that Google has been unable to aid with.

1) I can't get the front derailleur to shift correctly. I set it on the largest gear and smallest chainring and set the low limit screw, but when trying to shift it immediately jumps back onto the smaller chainring when releasing the shifter. After trying to adjust the high limit screw I realized that turning it does absolutely nothing, so I'm going to replace the front derailleur. However, I need to know what kind of derailleur will fit my gearset. The link below is the only derailleur I could find that specifies working with a 2 x 5 setup, but I was hoping to get something better... unless someone says that it looks fine. Oh, and the chainring shifter is friction while the gear shifter is indexed.

2) As you can see in the pictures, the rear derailleur is pulled pretty far forward on the largest gear. I also don't have a B screw on the derailleur, and I'm unsure what I should do to fix this.

Before addressing your questions, there are 2 issues that I can see. First, that stem looks dangerously high, probably well above the minimum insertion level. Second, those brake cables are both far too long. I can't even make out which one is looping around the stem that way, but neither cable should do that.
1)If you are shifting up to the big ring while on the biggest cog, don't do that. If it doesn't stay in place, it is because the shift lever doesn't provide enough friction to hold it there, the derailleur has nothing to do with it.
2) You should only be using that largest rear cog if you are on the small chainring. Can't see from the photo. Your chain may be too short, but your photo doesn't show where you are on the front

I did not see a picture of the left side of the left shifter, but a lot of the time on those types of shifters, there is a screw on the side that creates the friction that keeps the shifter from popping back down. you just need to tighten that friction screw.

1. I agree with Brian25. The most likely cause of your front derailleur issue is that your shift lever doesn't have enough friction to hold against the derailleur spring pressure. Usually that type of friction shifter has a screw on the side that needs to be tightened.

2. It looks to me like your chain was sized using the commonly recommended big/big method. That method will yield the shortest chain that will safely cover your big/big combination. The way that your rear derailleur looks when in that combination is normal

Your chain looks a little short, I'd add 2 or 3 links to your chain length.

I was messing around with the stem height and I do need to lower it back down. As far as the brake housing goes, the distance is very short between the crosstop levers and the front brake. This put tension on the lever and was keeping it popped open. I couldn't come up with any other setup that kept the housing in front of the bars and wasn't doing this. As it is though it allows a full range of motion and isn't getting in the way and the braking is fine.

I checked the side of my shift levers, and was surprised to see a knob on the side of the lever. I tightened that down and setup the front derailleur again and it is now shifting fine, so thanks guys!

It's when I have things set to the biggest gear and biggest chainring that has the rear derailleur pulled forward like that. If that looks normal then I'll keep it how it is.

Also, for future reference, how do you guys replace derailleurs on old 10 speeds like mine? Do you just have to get newer 6/7 speed rear derailleurs and say goodbye to index shifting? What about the front?

You don't need indexing on a front double. You just move the lever one way or the other.

For the rear, the indexing is in the shifter cable pull.
Just about any 6-9 speed Shimano RDER will work.
