New pedal destroyed?
Hey all,
Just bought a Trek DS 8.3 a couple months ago, probably 200 miles on it so far. I was riding today and noticed as I was getting ready to leave my pedal was hanging by 1 remaining screw (out of 4 total). Right now I'm planning on heading to the hardware store to try and pick up some matching screws and blue loctite - is this a viable solution? More importantly, any ideas what may have caused this? It is the left pedal and my assumption is that the weight of the bike caused this as I lay it down on that pedal (but never hard). Surely it can take that little punishment though? I see people laying down their bikes all the time.. I also transport my bike in the trunk and it lays the same way (on the left pedal) so that might not be helping? But again.. lots of people do this? Any thoughts are appreciated! |
If it was me id get some red loctite. as the screws that hold the pedal flats to the pedal body never need to come undone. And my guess is maybe someone didn't quite torque them up when they wereu made.

Good point. On second thought though, the body is nylon, not metal. I don't think loctite is recommended for that? Any other product used for this?

Try for warranty at the LBS you bought it from. It should be covered.
