Grease under nails?
 

I always seem to get grease under my nails whenever i use it. Do you have grease under your nails right now?

I always have grease under my nails, it's really quite annoying. I keep meaning to get one of those brushes...but it just slipped my mind.

Its so hard to get off! Even with go jo and all, this stuff sticks. And to top it off, its green. Its supposed to be waterproof and i believe it

Just serviced two bikes and changed the oil in the car. Grease everywhere... :D

I keep my nails cut really short.
What little gets under them washes away when I clean my hands.

Grease, mimeograph ink, toner, paper lint...oh wait, you were talking about working on bikes! I stay a whole lot cleaner doing my bike repairs than I do working on office machines. :eek:

Lithium smells neat. Calms me down...wonder what it tastes like...

When I work on the department bikes, I use the ever-handy rubber exam gloves. Even so, they often rip and I STILL get greasy hands. I use one of those orange-smelly pumice hand cleaners.

Short fingernails, old toothbrush as an under-nail scrubber, clean nails even after a messy job!

I have some grease under my nails right now. As for cleaning hands, gojo works miracles.

I seem to get it stuck in my finger prints even more than my nails. I find it easier to scrape it out from under my nails, but I can scrub for what seems like an eternity and not get the grease out of my finger print.

Solution:
Get a bar of regular soap. & wet it. Scratch all your fingernails into the bar. Soap will be under nails. Get hand scrub brush and brush those spots under the nails.
Gets rid of most of it!

After having my fingerprints almost removed by using liquid de-greaser (it removes oil from skin really good), I now wear rubber gloves when servicing the bike at home. So no more dirty fingers.

I sometimes get it under my cuticles, and basically have to pull the cuticle away with a nail file to get at it.

The first time I had ever heard that. Learned something today. When doing dirty work, I always wear the sheer vinyl gloves because it saves time scrubbing my hands.
Home Depot sells them 100 to a box...have a few boxes on hand...sure they rip on occassion but overall save time.

I get more grease under my nails at work(wearing gloves) than wrenching on my bike. I read somewhere(auto repair manual, maybe) that you can put petroleum jelly under your nails to keep them from getting dirty, but then you've just got clean grease under them and probably slippery hands....

Dirty hands, full bank account. Clean hands, empty bank account.

I still have dirt under my nails from spreading mulch all last weekend.

eesh... sometimes the grease hangs out in the cracks of my skin, too. I've started using a lil scouring pad w/ go jo... works pretty well now. I still have slight traces of grease, but I'm gonna try that soap trick! These forums are very informative... and misinformative :(

It's funny cause its true!

Just wet the hands and rub them with dish washing liquid. Rince. Repeat until clean.

Same here... well, nearly, except I bite my nails. :( Bad habit, I know, but it's impossible to stop.

I'm in the same boat as you... don't you just hate it when you chew a nail, and you can feel the grit in your teeth from the said nail? Ick...

I suppose it's a bit more acceptable for me to bite my nails, since I play the guitar. I could never see myself trimming my left hand and letting the nails on my right hand grow out, like those hardcore classical players. I'm just not good enough!
