Mix-n-match 105 and Rival drivetrain

I know charinrings, cassettes and chains are interchangeable, but what about shifters and derailleurs?

I have the opportunity to buy a bike with 2013 Shimano 105, but I ride Sram and like the Sram shifters better.

Will Rival shifters work with 105 deraillieurs (both being 10 speeds) or will I need Rival derailleurs also?

No, Shimano shifters go with Shimano derailleurs and SRAM with SRAM.

You can mix cassettes and cranks easily enough though.

Well, one could get a ShiftMate cable movement adaptor to translate Shimano to SRAM or back... Andy

I "thought" you could use a Shimano FD with a Sram shifter, but honestly a new Rival FD is like $25.

New Rival 10 speed shifters are $160 a pair and a new RD is $45. So for $250, assuming i'll need new cables, i can have Rival on the bike.
