Does Anyones Crank Set Creak As You Pedal
Hey
i have a old giant iguana and as you pedal the crank set creaks but i can live with that because it's an old bike but i recently bought a vt2 2005 model and after a couple of months it creaks everytime you put pressure on it. can anyone tell me the problem.

isnt this thread already in bike mechanics. but thank for the idea but everything is already tightened but do you think so of the stuff is over toghtened

I used to have that problem, but then my bike got stolen so I don't have that problem anymore. Definitely check your seat tube and seat guts, grease and oil respectively as needed. also check your stem.

that could be the problem because it has happened to my vt2 and my iguana. do you just mean the nuts r loose or that i need to grease the seat post.

Oh man I wish I had that power!! I could go by a bunch of other cyclists and as I cranked, anyone's bike would start creaking, maybe all of 'em!

It is either that the bottom bracket cartridge and adaptor ring are not torqued quite enough (not nessarily the fault of the mechanic).
If torquing it to the high end of the specified torque range does not work, apply blue(med/removable strength 242 or 243[oil tolerant]) or purple(low strength 222) loctite to the adaptor ring where it presses against the bottom bracket cartidge and to the threads on both sides, then torque to the medium torque spec. If installing in an aluminium bottom bracket shell, completely coat the threads in the loctight to prevent steel to aluminium corrosion. Torque immediatly affter loctite is applied and then let it stand unused for 24 hours at room temp(65+ degees F) to cure to full strength, because if the loctight is destirbed after setting has begun it will be nearly useless and need to be reapplied.
If the loctite doesn't work then it is somthing inside the cartridge and all you can do is replace the unit or run it untill it dies then replace the unit.
