Older Mavic Freehub Question

This is a Mavic M40319 (HG) freehub from my 1999-2003 Cosmic Elite wheels. Long been out of stock. I have googled a lot with no luck on this freehub. The Mavic tec site has nothing on freehub overhaul. It was used for Mavic Cosmos, Classic and Cosmic wheels. thanks

Can anyone tell me how to get to the pawls? I'm guessing tap the bearing out but I would like to know what comes next.

Try punching the bearings out , In doing so it should give you access to the pawls , then you can clean and lube them . If you don't want to do that , then remove the seal clean and lube the bearing , drip some oil in the back side the freehub as you turn it doing this should get the oil to the pawls .

The cup the bearing is sitting in covers the innards similar to the old Trek Rolff wheels. After you remove the bearing you would need the tool to remove the cup. For most of them the best way is to remove the bearing and soak the body in solvent while turning it. Drain it, blow it out and drip heavy oil into the back until it comes out the front.

Thanks for the info, I pushed the bearing out.
I assume the cup screws off the center tube that's attached to the gear. If I make a tool that fits the notches and screw the cup out will I run into any surprises?

The cup is a left-handed thread. There are about 48 to 52 1/8" bearings, thin washers, two pawls and a spring clip holding the pawls.
