Need help with Falcon 20EO hub linkage on CCM Mustang

I have a bike with a 3 speed Falcon 20EO 3 speed hub on a CCM Mustang. The problem I have is trying to figure out where the spring clip fastens within the shift linkage. I have searched for a drawing without success. Any help appreciated.

I also looked up Falcon 20EO hub and nothing at all comes up. Maybe you could try another angle like the bike manufacturer. Could this hub be a knock-off of another brand like Sturmey Archer? (I have no idea what SA hubs look like internally.) Is it older than the '90s (pre-Internet)?

Yes, probably pre 1990.

I took it into a bike shop with years of experience and they had never seen this configuration before. The bike is running as a single speed right now and will continue to do so until I track down a master mechanic with the knowledge to fix it.
