anyone recognise this crankset?

I picked it up at the local co-op about a year ago, mostly because I liked the look of it. except for the "n" on the arms, there's nothing to i.d. it, and I don't know what it might stand for. I'm now playing with a new project and would like to find another. I've got a feeling it will be way out of my price range, but I'd still like to know what to look for. thanks.

The "n" is Nashbar's logo so it is likely a house brand item from them. It's either a track or single speed/fixie crank and probably not too expensive. It's not shown on Nashbar's web site so i expect it's discontinued but a call or e-mail to them might identify it further.

thanks, now I have at least a clue anyway. it was actually a twin chainring, but I took the smaller one off.

Even though it's a Nashbar-ey looking "n", I doubt it is a nashbar thing, but anything is possible.

Retrobike.co.uk vintage MTB forum might be able to ID it. Or maybe the Vintage Mountain Bike facebook group. Even though it may have been a road crank, a lot of those vintage MTB guys are well versed in CNC'd goodies of all sorts

Looks like a pair without rings sold on ebay.co.uk in May of 2012 for $99

I'd say there's a pretty good chance of that. Are those holes in the spider threaded, @Philphine ?

May have even used the Shimano Spline and lockring style to fit that spider to the crank arm.

Shimano of course has since abandoned that for another design for others to try to make something compatible.

While the "n" logo is similar to Nashbar's, it's not the same. I don't think that crankset is one of theirs.

they are, but I want it as a single. I got it for a fancy-ish (-ish because it's really just a cheap Fuji folder) looking city bike.

Yeah, I was just trying to figure if it was originally a triple. Definitely hit up the MTB sources I mentioned in an earlier post. One of them is sure to have people with an answer.

In an ebay.uk pic, it looks like four m5 or m6 bolts hold the spider and arm together.

sorry, not on the 'net much on the weekends. thanks for the ideas.

it was a double as I got it. seemed like the smaller ring was holding a 39t ring? I don't remember.

I emailed nashbar. i'll see what they say.

I'm on one mountain bike forum, mainly as a lurker. i'll try posting a pic there. more out of curiousity now. I picked up something i can use for the new project at the co-op yesterday.

what is the ebay uk pic y'all are mentioning? how do I look that up? 4 bolts do hold the arm to the spider.

They were Google image results for "CNC crankset." They came up on my desktop but not on my phone. Ebay ad is long gone, the Google snippets mentioned no brand, unfortunately.

Cool crankset. I do not know who made it, but there is zero chance Nashbar ever sold anything like that.

well I emailed nashbar and got a not too sure answer, so I emailed again and got a more sure not so sure answer (yeah). the guy who answered said it did look like their logo, but if they made it was long ago and there's no record of it, so he couldn't say for sure.
