motivation . . .
I'm having trouble making it all come together . . .
At the moment I have what I consider 4 projects, and I'm not getting anywhere on any of them. I just can't seem to get motivated, either I get stuck on something totally trivial or I end up going out riding when the weather is nice. This drawn out bipolar spring is driving me nuts.
I have MTB project that I bought in the fall, used as my winter commuter and currently has the toddler trailer attached, and badly needs to be serviced (new rear mechanical disc caliper, new cables, full tune up, derusting/general lube job, off road tires reinstalled), and it's totally dead in the water. What's the worst is that the bike basically doesn't fit me. I have some money into this, but it needs more, and I'm not using it, so I'm annoyed AND wanting to sell it.
I have what I call my grocery bike, which is a 1x5spd frame-off build to be used for camping, errands, and hauling my toddler trailer when it's done. I have almost all the parts, and have serviced everything worth servicing, but I'm stuck on paint. I have some tough to reach rust near the chainstays and bb shell, and instead of working on it slowly and steadily, I'm not working on it at all. So instead of having a cool grocery/gravel/cross, 5spd with half new components and a snappy new paint job, I have a somewhat rusty frame totally disassembled, and a pile of parts (and money) sitting on the floor. But, N+1, amiright?!
I have a freebie mixte 10 spd huffy, that already has a prospective owner (it's a gift, the is a karma project). I tensioned and trued the wheels (total PITA btw), fixed up the drivetrain and brakes, and adjusted the various adjustables. One of the cable clamps on the rear brake is stripped. Literally less than $1 part and I can't get my lazy butt to the shop.
and then my daily rider commute-racer bike, which needs cleaning after the recent nasty weather and just got new bar tape, saddle, rims and tires, but needs some love in other areas because hey, it's a new season after all.
Just looking for some motivation, or maybe just venting. Anyone else feeling this bipolar spring in the NE? When it's nice out, the last thing I want to do is wrench, and when it's icky, the last thing I want to do is wrench . . . mostly I just want to drink beer either way lol

jeese... Didn't have the patience to read the whole post.
Just pick the bike you want to keep the most and deal with that one. Then maybe move on to the next. Andy

On my browser, it says, "Bicycle Mechanics", not "Bicycle Mechanical Problems".
I get motivation for projects like this from my wife. Usually, she presents her list of things she thinks I should be working on, which provides ample motivation for me to find something else to do! Besides, beer and wrenching are like PB&J; they just go together!
