got a folding stand. I live in a condo w a small basement & like I to work outside when possible, for example when cleaning the chain & drivetrain. so I can easily take this unit outside. of course when it's too hot, cold, or raining, I can leave it set up in the basement near my tools. this saves me from running in and out, up & down. maybe a non folding stand would be better. but after my riding season ends I can fold it up & out of the way. I've just started using it so I'm not the best judge but it's useful to adjust the derailleurs & brakes & swap the tire & tubes. but I do prefer to set the rear wheel in place with the bike on the ground (but maybe I just need more practice working in midair)

I thought I dropped a comment here earlier today; Pro stand linked by Straw_Cat looks good to me. MEC lacks QR for the height adjustment.

For square-tubed bikes like that Spec FSR, just clamp the seatpost.

I had one of those - the clamp failed, and not from abuse. I was so done with cheap stands, so I bought a Park PRS20, a Feedback Pro Elite and a Feedback Sprint. The Pro Elite is great for wheel and brake work while the euro type stands are fantastic for everything else. Having two euro type BB/fork stands is handy when I swap parts from one bike to another and when my kids want to work on their bikes.

For me, going cheap was a waste of moolah.

The Park PCS4.1 with the adjustable linkage clamp is well worth the additional cost. Cheap stands suck.

It's very stable, but you can trip over them if you're not careful.

it's always sumthin' but yeah I noticed as I was working on my bikes my feet hit my stand's feet as well. guess that's just the way it is with bike stands

I have an older Ultimate Support tripod stand, which I believe is now sold under the Feedback Sports brand. It's very solid and I would buy another one.
