Just How Bad are Chin Haur BB?
Hi,
Some of my bikes have Chin Haur BBs.
I keep on reading threads like this:
https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycli...-injuries.html
So I was wondering two things, Will replacing this with say an Shimano UN26 or UN55:
i) Improve the smoothness of the BB?
ii) Lessen my chances of a catastrophic failure.
At the root of both of these questions are how bad are the CH BB. My other bikes have BB86 so I can't really compare them against the Shimano BB.
Thanks.

Given that the cost of a UN26 or UN55 is minimal, and those BBs are known to be reliable, I guess the question you need to ask yourself is: what is the price of peace of mind?

There are certain parts that you simply do not want to fail, and BB spindles are right at the top of that list.
If there is any chance you should swap them out without hesitation...
