Using a 10 or 11 speed cassette locking on a 9 speed cassette

So I am looking to switch from an 11-34 to a 12-34 just to give it a go since I don't really sit in 11 too much on my touring bike and I have the proper cog and just need to get a 12t Locking. I was hoping for gits and shiggles to get a DuraAce (the finest in italian components all the way from Japan) 7900 12t Lockring (which is only a few bucks more expensive). Will this work?

The cassette is a SRAM PG-990 in case you were curious. I couldn't find useful info online and have never switched out cogs and have generally just gone with the stock cassettes and lockings so this is new to me. I assume it might work but figured ask someone who might have more experience.
