Conformal coating solution for slowing down brake hood stickyness/failure?

Hi all,
I've got a pair of sticky black rubber brake hoods circa 1986. Replacement hoods don't appear to be available for the Shimano SR-6200 aero levers, at least not that I can find. I want to hold off on replacing the levers + hoods - seems a waste.

Has anyone tried a sprayable conformal coating to slow the decay of brake hoods? If so do tell!

.
...I've tried various approaches. It seems to me I've had best results with Armor All, let it sit on there for a while, wipe it off. If still sticky, dust with talc, wipe it off.

I have found that one of the things that cause rubber parts on the handle bars to go bad and get sticky is sun screen. After putting on sun screen wash your hands.
