Handlebar Rubber Shims

Please excuse the simple question, but I have an accessory (computer/head unit) that mounts to a 31.8 size handlebar, but I just installed a 25.4 mm handlebar (with an appropriate shim). So now the accessory doesn't fit. I'm just struggling finding the right terms to search for the right size piece of rubber to make this work. I jury rigged it with some tape, but that's kind of ugly. Does that type of adapter exist? Can anyone point me to it? Thanks.

You could use some self-fusing silicone tape to build up a shim. It only adheres to itself so can be easily removed, and will not bleed adhesive since it has none. Comes in a bunch of colors including clear so you can match or contrast your bike's color scheme. Good for lots of other uses as well.

I use old innertubes - hard to see here but I wrapped it tight and as many times around as I needed for thickness, and then taped it off... not real pretty but real solid, and the tape only sticks to the rubber, not the bars.

If an aluminum shim doesn't work I, to, use an old inner tube or an empty soda can. No sticky glue to deal with and you can trim off the excess so it doesn't show. The inner tube has grip to and won't pack out and slip like electrical tape.

If your local shop sells this brand of computer, they should be able to get you a replacement mount of the correct size.
