Howdy All;

Tires I'm going to use are Marathon Plus Tour HS 404 | Schwalbe North America
in 50-559, 26 x 2.00 size front and rear. Will be using heavy duty tubes and calculating tire pressure
using Stan's formula
"Rider Weight in pounds divided by 7 = x
x - 1 = Front tire pressure in PSI
x + 2 = Rear tire pressure in PSI"
to figure out a starting point and adjust from there. Yep, realize that Stan's is based on being tubeless
... but, it's a place to start.

Those are pretty low pressures, they'd have me around 22 psi with my 155 lbs (which might be nice with tubeless, but I wouldn't run that tubed).

I'd use 5 as a divisor for dirt use and 4 as a divisor for road use.

LestreofPuppets, Howdy;

Figures out to about 31 front and 34 rear for just me (230#), and 36 front
and 39 rear figuring 30 lbs. for me & bike. As I mentioned above, it's a starting point.
Dang, bicycling sure wasn't this complicated back in the early '60s ... :bang:

Howdy All;

So, I'm grateful for the suggestions (even the ones that came across in a manner that I took offense to).
It gave me the push I needed to go and ask the experts at Surly. Not surprisingly they agreed with the
majority of everyone here and informed me that it would be a better choice to use their "Troll" front end
as it would have the proper amount of A-to-C distance. One of the things I needed educated about.
Thank You all for that.
The order has been changed at the LBS as both are on back order till the end of Aug. early Sept. time
frame. Which is good for me as the temps. here have been in triple digits for the past week and don't
expect to drop into some more comfortable 80's and 90's for a few more weeks. Not really a time to start
on a new type of program to get back in shape.
I'll attempt to play well (better), with others in the future.
Again, Thanks All.
