Freewheel to freehub 7sp indexed?

Bent both wheels, (don't ask) and looking at replacing them. Any issues to expect if I go from the 7sp freewheel to a freehub and 7sp cassette? Most likely a Sunrace CSM40 11-28.

Will probably try to straighten the existing Matrix 550s as spares, so being able to swap both right back in would be ideal. (I hate getting to the garage to start my commute and instead having to change a tire that went flat overnight.)

Assuming both are Shimano/SRAM compatible, the spacing is the same.

Making them seamlessly interchangeable will likely require a bit of fussing around with shims.

Likely they will switch fine with just a few clicks of the barrel adjuster, due to manf. tolerances.

Swapping from the stock MegaRange to a Sunrace 14-28t freewheel ultimately only took a small adjustment to the low limit screw, (after I figured out it wouldn't hit the small cog on the stock one either and straightened the RD hanger) so hopefully this will go as smoothly.

Might want to adjust the B-screw if you're not running megarange. I've found that RDs set up for megarange can often have particularly poor shifting because they're set up to clear the megarange cog meaning that the pulley is far from the cassette in every other gear.

Figured that out about two days after I put the Sunrace on...then realized I needed to shorten the chain a bit too. Shifts great now, just doesn't roll so well with the wheels all non-planar.

7-speeds are quite tolerant. Got a f/w as a backup for my winter commuter. Chain wear is an issue, but indexing isn't.
