Stripped Mount on V-brake Lever

I somehow managed to strip the mounting bracket on a ProMax aluminum brake lever. Is this worth trying to tap or should I pitch it?

Taps are fairly cheap. You can get a tap and a new screw for under $5 at a hardware store. You can just use a pair of vice grips to grip the tap so you don't have to buy the fancy tap tool.
