Shifting 2 derailleurs at the same time

ok....I think I know the answer to this one but we all know the only question that is truly stupid is the one you don't ask.

I am building a quadracycle single passenger. Using 2 20" kids BMX bikes 6 speed. The bike will be hand powered and I would like to know if there is a way to shift both bikes from the same shifter? I already have worked out the breaking issue. The steering is working great. Now the last piece of the puzzle.

Any ideas?

Well, the Cable Doubler 1:2 will allow you to pull 2 cables with one lever, but I would bet you dollars to donuts you will not be able to get them balanced well enough to shift identically across the cassette, especially if you do not have exactly identical derailleurs. Even if you do I think it will be problematic. Problem Solvers

Check your local snowmobile shop for a throttle adapter used with dual carbs.

You can use barrel adjusters to sync the derailleurs.

Personally, I wouldn't drive both sides anyhow. Your steering might be squirrelly in turns.

The shifting aids will shift each wheel independently so you'll end up with shift steering. I'd recommend a single cassette on an intermediate axle and drive each wheel from the axle.

MOST adult upright trikes only Drive 1 rear wheel, the other wheel is free rolling ..

When you turn a corner the 2 wheels will turn at different rates

because the apex side of the corner is a shorter distance Arc than the Outside .
