Friction shifter cable identification
Shamano shifters. I took this to two shops and they looked in books and couldn't find cable.

Opposite solution: change the shifters to something that uses a cable You Can Find, thats a dead end.

Yall were my last hope.
Thanks I will do that |
Positron or a Positron variant.
|
|
Thank you
I'm going to buy new shifters |
You will also need new derailleurs; Positron derailleurs lack springs, hence the stiff wire that both pushed and pulled the derailleur into position.
It may be in your best interest to buy a vintage part, if you are looking to spend as little as possible. Beware the length of the wire--you can always cut down a long one... |

Positron was not even a Cable it was a solid wire as it pushed as well as Pulled ..
Other weird ness tried was the front freewheel crank rather than the freewheel on the rear wheel.. You may be Pouring money into a obsoleted Bike. perhaps shopping for a new bike is in Order. |
Positron is dead technology for several decades already, but you can still find cables for Positron on e.g. eBay:

You may need a new derailleur as well, Positron rear derailleurs only work with Positron shifters
